Today's inaugural meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Ethics and Sustainability in Fashion
By Tamara Cincik
Today sees the inaugural meeting of the newly formed All Party Parliamentary Group for Ethics and Sustainability in Fashion (ESF APPG) with Fashion Roundtable working as the secretariat, working closely with Baroness Lola Young of Hornsey, Hubbub and CSF.
This APPG will run concurrently with separate parliamentary members to The APPG for Textiles and Fashion which is chaired by Dr Lisa Cameron MP, where we have been secretariat since our launch in November 2017. This is a very exciting development for Fashion Roundtable, enabling us to ensure that the fashion industry is heard and valued by policy leaders and parliamentarians across all areas of this vast but interconnected sector: from education, the environment, ethics, business, to domestic and international trade. We are now able to solidify fashion's diverse voices into unified policy agendas and solutions. When I worked in Parliament it was a shock to find that the fashion industry was not seemingly as represented, or valued, as other sectors. This is why across all our work my driving aim has been to ensure we are heard, we are respected and our needs are met with sustainable and long-term solutions. Both APPGs will allow us the scope and the capacity to support this vision.
